Hi everyone,

Let me get this out of the way upfront: I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this subject. It's obvious there's a massive amount of material to go through here. I imagine it'll be some time before I can add anything of value, so until then I'll do my best not to flood the place with silly questions.

My main motivation for joining is that a person very close to me is carrying extra weight and is eager to get healthier and shed some pounds. For a number of reasons, the choices available to us where we live aren't great. As for me, I'm hoping to discover something that helps my own wellbeing too.

We've been exercising as a pair for some time now, and honestly my history with fitness has been stop-and-start for as long as I can remember. She even persuaded me to join her for yoga (that's been a real eye-opener; I had no idea how much I'd let certain parts of my fitness slide). That said, both of us are beginning to notice our age, and we want to take charge of our health more actively. So that's why I'm here.

I appreciate that this place puts limits on new accounts. It makes me trust a bit more in what the longer-standing members post. Crowd wisdom, a community that keeps itself in check, that sort of thing. Plus, I'm in no rush to dive right in.

Looking forward to picking things up from all of you, and alongside you.

Welcome! I'm in the same boat—just starting out—and I completely agree: this place is packed with a LOT of helpful information. For a month I stayed quiet, soaking up what I could, before I even completed my membership (confirming my email) and put up my introduction. My wish is that you and your friend can figure out a path to take charge of your health. It's a challenge for me too, so let's learn side by side!

Curiosity, honesty, and motivation — you've arrived with all 3 in good measure. The fact that you and your partner are facing this side by side is wonderful; when someone has your back, the impact is enormous, and you're already putting some strong routines in place. That yoga turned out to be a surprise "game changer" is something many can relate to.

There's no such thing as a "dumb question" here; every person begins at some point, and the real key is the desire to learn. Happy to have you with us, and I hope this community delivers precisely the support and perspective you're after.

Every one of us started out as a beginner at some point! That yoga aspect is genuine — I've picked it up myself not long ago, and in my view it creates a wonderful link between the mind and the muscles.

Tirzepatide has been incredible for me — it led to a significant drop in weight and truly turned things around. Picking up as much knowledge as possible matters. Roughly 2 years back, when I first began, I skipped the deeper research, and looking back, I really wish I had put in that effort.
