Is there a way to purchase and use crypto 100% anonymously without having to scan your ID, etc?

I installed Coinbase with the intention of buying USDT, but now I'm uneasy because it wants my Social Security number, ID card, and a bunch of other personal details. After all, peptides are sold on the grey market, and my job demands discretion.

Also, a possibly silly question: when a vendor accepts ERC20, does that mean I can pay with Tether (USDT) held on Coinbase? Or with Ethereum (ETH)?

True, BUT, that's usually past what a beginner still learning how crypto works can pull off, and even once you get there it stays hard, particularly inside the US.

Since the ETH network takes a fee whenever USDT is sent over it, you'll need to hold a small quantity of ETH itself. On CB, purchase $3 of ETH, and any quantity of USDT afterward. After that, install Trust wallet or a comparable option and move the funds on chain into a wallet you control. Trust serves as your "gangsta" wallet, and that's what you'll use when paying the vendor.

Buying crypto straight through the exchange feature inside Exodus was the worst move I made. Exodus itself never asks for your details, yet the exchanges behind it do. Once KYC is in play, every transaction tied to your name can be handed over to the tax office. So now I'm left scrambling over how to declare what I did with crypto. There was just 1 transaction, nothing gained and nothing lost, but I still have to declare it to remain compliant. Dealing with crypto on your taxes is a real pain.

Find out from your seller which ERC20 token they'll take.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but have you actually looked into this at all?

There are lots of non-KYC options out there. You can walk into any bitcoin ATM with physical cash. You can send payment through the mail. The list goes on.

Just so you know, searching something like "how to buy crypto without ID" on a service such as google is enough to get your name onto a watchlist.

My strong advice: get a handle on the fundamentals of crypto first -- and again, I'm not trying to be a jerk -- otherwise you're probably going to screw something up, and that mistake could either put you in a bad spot with the IRS or wipe out the money you put in due to an error with a token, a network, or a receiving wallet.

Since you want it spelled out, here you go:

bisq, haveno, retoswap, cash at bitcoin atms-> swap to ETH pairs on a DEX-> ezpz
