Hello all. Back on GLPs after a break.

Been on GLP-1s for over a year. Started sema, moved to tirz and worked up to 10mg. Lost 30-40 lbs and was in a good spot. Had to come off for about six months and put 20+ back on. Humbling, though from what I'm reading here that's pretty much the standard story when you stop. Back on tirz now at a lower dose. First goal is getting back to 207, which is where I was before the break. Real target is 175. Insurance stopped covering it so I'm paying out of pocket, which focuses the mind a bit. Here to learn from people who've run a long arc with this rather than a quick cut. Glad to be here.

You ain’t lying about paying out of pocket lol. What made you have to come off of it for a while? I’m taking Reta and trying to do everything possible to change my eating habits while I’m on it hopefully I can be one of the success stories. Time will tell.

Welcome! I am here because I was never able to get insurance to cover it, and I just couldn't pay out of pocket, so I am here so I can go the cheaper route. Congrats on getting down so much, and yeah, I think the big trick for all of us is to figure out when our body's set point will finally be back down into the 100s instead of wanting to push us back into 200+ territory.

I wonder if maybe, with this medicine, they'll be able to figure out when or if that set point change ever actually happens.

I was out of work for several months and GLPs quickly lost priority over other essentials. Everything is good now, but paying out of pocket prices for the branded versions is not fun.

Welcome! It's really unfortunate how few insurances cover these and that some are even getting rid of their coverage! Hoping accessibility can become more widespread but for now wishing you luck!

I suspect that the issue may be that we all will need to slowly taper off.

If it took 12 months to max the does, it is possible that it might take 12 months to taper off without any additional issues.

Very few have had the opportunity to test this, so only time will tell.

What we do know is that it is not good to have to suddenly quit. At best, it appears to leave you in a sort of glp limbo when you try to restart again.

Totally understand. I thought it might have been like you got sick or something.

Agreed, I have an agent set up to record data, progress and my plan. One of the findings it suggested was that fat replaced the muscle loss during the initial glp run and that is actively contributing to this plateau.

I've been walking 2-3 miles a day at a decent clip, but I have to incorporate resistance training. My work schedule is actively fighting against that, but I need to figure out something.
