Hi everyone,

For the last 10 years, the pounds have been a battle — I lose some, then gain them back. Right now I'm sitting at about 260. I've gone through more medical tests than I can count, and every time my bloodwork and labs come back looking clean. When I got tested for fatty liver disease, the doctors told me my liver was actually healthier than theirs.

I tried standing up for myself and dealt with the hassle of state-funded insurance through KP, but my doctors kept gaslighting me and dismissing my concerns. Eventually they said they'd hear me out about my weight instead of just pushing healthy eating and exercise. The catch was I first had to try 2 different methods, and only if those failed could we even talk about glps. Phentermine gave me anxiety, and contrave did nothing for me. After that, my doctor said she'd think about a glp, but only if I sat through 4 weeks of health classes on zoom. I did all of it, and she finally wrote me a prescription — but it was for ozemp, which they said wasn't covered and would run $1700/month 💀. The pharmacy sent a request to my doctor to switch to wegovy, and I barely managed to pick up my prescription on December 31, just an hour before the pharmacy shut. Finally, after 9 months of waiting and endless research, I had it.... Then I found out from the KP mail I'd been tossing aside as junk that California is no longer covering it. So clearly I don't have FLD, and the sleep apnea testing request is now 3 months out. I've taken my first 3 shots and dropped 6 lbs in 3 weeks. The food noise has vanished, I'm watching my portions because I honestly can't eat more. I feel good, but obviously I'm at a loss. My doctor prescribes the next dosage, and they tell me it's still going to be $1600 out of pocket every month. Since I'm on state medical and definitely can't afford that, I remembered a coworker telling me about peptides last May, back when I started advocating and waiting forever to do things the "right" way through my doctor. I figured my journey wouldn't be long or rough, so I didn't need to look into peptides — because the great American health care system was letting me down yet again. :')

So here I am, and sorry this got so long. Guess I needed to vent my frustrations in my intro post. I'm just starting to research peptides and hope I won't ask silly questions, and I'll appreciate all your wisdom.

You could stretch that into years of sema sourced from overseas. If crypto isn't something you're familiar with, my advice is to start picking it up while you keep digging deeper into this space.

Wait, hold on—replying to intros is allowed? That's awesome! No way, 1700$ every MONTH?? That's absolutely wild.

Ugh, KP drives me nuts!!!!!! My experience with them is almost identical. Ozempic was covered for 1 year, then they cut it off. There was no way I could do 1200 per month!!! Finding this community is such a relief!!! These days I'm off semaglutide, but I've got a freezer full of supply that could last years (you know, just in case). 10 months' worth cost me 55 dollars!!

Go slow, dig through these threads as much as you can, get the hang of crypto, and your whole life will be different!!!

Just so everyone's clear: KP stands for Kaiser Permanente, which is a health insurance provider.

@LightAsAFeather, this is definitely the right spot for you. Go through the Forums table of contents (that big logo at the top is the link), search around, read as much as you can, and above all, get a solid grasp of reconstituting (perhaps your co-worker can walk you through it), plus other supplies, and yes, crypto too. Do all that before you pick a vendor. Also keep in mind that when someone says a "kit," that's 10 vials, and each vial contains (or comes close to!!!) the stated number of milligrams.

If I were in your shoes, I'd go with tirzepatide (sold as Mounjaro/Zepbound) rather than semaglutide (sold as Ozempic/Wegovy), since it likely means fewer side effects and more weight loss. I wouldn't pick the newest and greatest retatrutide, even though it's popular around here, because it's trickier to bring up an unapproved drug with your doctor, and it usually does a worse job at curbing appetite (even if it's marginally better overall for fast weight loss).
