Hey everyone,

A quick search brought me to this spot. I'm just past 40, and through my early 30s I stayed pretty fit and played a lot of sports. Back in my 20s, dropping or adding pounds happened without much effort. Sweets are my weakness, and I've always been able to put away a lot of food - even as a tiny kid, managing how much I ate was a struggle, and it still is. These days, with age, keeping that same eating discipline and portion control is tougher, so the scale has been creeping up more than down. Right now I'm 5'8" and about 230lbs. I still work out and lift weights, so even though that number is on the heavy side for my height, my frame is clearly muscular and athletic - you'd see it if I posted a pic.

I haven't tried any meds apart from blood pressure ones (it runs in the family).

Since my blood pressure is high (under control at the moment) and I have a sweet tooth, I'm exploring options to help manage blood sugar, weight, and general wellness. Right now Reta has my attention for shedding 30-40 pounds. I've gone through the side effect info, picked up that going slow is the smart play for the starting dose, and I feel ready to move forward.

Thanks y'all

A bit more seasoned in years, carrying quite a few extra pounds, and eager to shed that weight alongside everyone here. Simply going through everything posted here feels seriously overwhelming. Looks like a spreadsheet is in order.

Glad you made it here, this is the right spot! If you end up choosing Reta, it's a fantastic tool. You'll notice there are multiple paths available to support your journey. Personally, I chose Reta and began with a reeeeaaally tiny dose. Starting slow is smarter so you don't gamble with side effects 😆

Welcome aboard — great that you made it to this spot.

Plenty of what you described will ring true for others — particularly how the change from your 20s until now means things don't drop off the same way anymore, and keeping portions in check becomes much tougher (a sweet tooth certainly doesn't help).

Fortunately, you already have a solid foundation — continuing to lift and remain active counts for a lot. This isn't a fresh start; it's more about finding some support to get things back on track.

What you're aiming for seems completely sensible, and it's excellent that you've spent time reading up and grasping the details before diving in. Easing in and watching how your body reacts is the right approach.

You're in a strong position — looking forward to seeing how it unfolds for you. 👊
