Hey everyone, Sam here.

My reason for joining is to pick up knowledge about GLP-1s from folks who are on them themselves and get what it's like day to day.

A gastric bypass is part of my history, and by the usual definition it 'failed' — I dropped a lot of weight, but 96kgs was a wall I couldn't get past, and since then some has come back on.

Reactive hypoglycaemia is something I deal with at times, and it can flare up from any food that would normally sit fine with me, which is maddening. Over the weekend I ate a toastie on multigrain bread and, yep, felt awful. Odd, because the day before I'd had the same thing with no problem.

ADHD meds are also in the mix for me, so appetite and eating are already messy before weight loss medication even enters the picture. Losing fat — particularly around my midsection — is the aim, while holding onto muscle and avoiding any worsening of my food-related problems.

Right now I'm working out how tirzepatide and retatrutide differ, and which of them might suit someone whose starting point is more complicated.

Protein, meal structure, and a bit of strength training are things I'm trying to make more consistent too, so motivation isn't the only thing carrying me.

Glad to be here, and keen to learn from all of you.

Best of luck to you, mate. The journey is tough, yet I'm optimistic that glp and wisdom could be what finally opens the door to lasting weight loss.
