Gratitude first, to whoever built and maintains this place. Weight has been a lifelong opponent for me, and I've cycled through essentially every diet that exists. Then roughly 5 years back, at 40, a discovery: restricting myself to lean protein and vegetables didn't just take pounds off, it also silenced the food preoccupation that has shadowed me forever. 45 pounds gone that way. For my health it's been a gift — but the narrowness of the lifestyle wears on me and on my family. The dread of sliding back into the old body never really leaves, and eating "normally" on a trip sets off real anxiety followed by the slog of returning to the plan. Maintaining without the fear and the rigid control is what I'm hoping to find. Which is, I suspect, the point of this place. Thanks again to everyone — I'm here to learn.
