I figure posting for the first time feels weird for just about anybody. I wouldn't call myself an introvert at all, but putting personal stuff out on any platform has never been my thing. So I suppose this is where I try to move past that.
Age wise I'm 38, 5'10" tall, and sitting around 255. There have been periods when I was in fantastic shape, but right now is definitely not one of them
I served as a veteran in an airborne infantry unit. For a while I also did powerlifting competitions. (Young and dumb) That kind of weight isn't something your body is built to handle.
I should add that addiction has been a lifelong struggle in different forms, food included. Leaving the military I was an angry young man, and I went on to land in serious trouble over and over. So I've also been incarcerated in shape, which is its own separate experience.
By now I've improved myself in a lot of areas. Therapy has been a big part of that, both inpatient and outpatient, and I've gone through a considerable amount. Nothing I take now isn't prescribed. Drinking and partying are behind me, and it's been many years since I was in a fight. I'm also lucky enough to have a beautiful wife, I'm on my way to becoming an automation engineer, and my life is peaceful.
That said, I'm overweight and I overeat. Over the summer I was doing much better. My wife and I walked and went to the gym, but once winter hit full force, along with the depression that always follows it, all of that disappeared. My hope is that I can use this as a tool to change my relationship with food. Stress eating is part of it too. I've watched it work for plenty of others, including close friends who I actually suggested reta to. I just haven't taken that step myself yet. I guess I'm looking for a little more insight and encouragement.
