Hey all! 👋

Glad to be part of this and to become a member of the GLP-1 community.

For a bit more than 2.5 years I have been on semaglutide as well as tirzepatide, and that stretch has been quite a ride. Along the way I dropped a considerable amount of weight and, what matters more, gained a lot of insight into the way my body and metabolism really function.

Sadly, my health insurance never picked up the tab for the treatment. An unambiguous type 2 diabetes diagnosis was never formally made—ironically, in part since I had already been self-treating with tirzepatide. Occasionally the system has its own brand of humor. 😉

Even so, the whole experience has been largely positive, and it pushed me to keep at it. At this point I am set to take the next step and intend to begin Reta (retatrutide) so I can watch how the coming chapter of my journey plays out. I am curious, realistic, and respectful of the process—and really keen to pick things up from others walking a comparable road.

I am eager to swap stories, have candid conversations, and back each other up along the way.

Hey Rhettung! Same here — I spent a while reading posts before finally deciding to jump in. It's great to be part of this path alongside so many people who share the same goal, doing what we can to look after ourselves inside a system controlled by those in charge. Wishing you all the best! Catch you on the boards.

Rhettung, welcome — and well done on what you've achieved up to now.

Having spent more than 2 years on sema/tirz, you've built a solid base, particularly when it comes to knowing how your system reacts outside of mere scale weight. Plenty of folks fail to appreciate how much is learned across that stretch, so it's nice that you describe it in those terms.

The insurance absurdity is sadly all too genuine — you're certainly in good company on that front. A great many individuals land in that murky middle ground where getting ahead of the problem ends up hurting your chances at official reimbursement.

Reta makes for a compelling following move, and you seem to be taking it on with the correct outlook: inquisitive, unhurried, and mindful of how the process works. Once you've gotten used to it, I'd like to hear what shifting over feels like for you next to tirz.

I'll be glad to keep up and pick up things from what you go through too. 👍

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome! Plenty to pick up around these parts. For my part, I'm weighing self-treatment because of my own health situation, and I'd rather not get tangled up in the insurance machinery.
