Howdy Gang,
I'm yet another person who came over from Reddit, hoping to pull myself together and move into the next chapter of life in much better health.
The basics: I'm 40, a guy, living in the Seattle metro area, and I'm about to become a dad for the first time. These days I work at a desk (before last year I used to travel a lot) and across the last 5–6 years I went from a respectable 215 up to nearly 270, the result of a crappy diet and the classic sit-at-a-desk lifestyle. I hardly even registered it as it was happening.
I've finally managed to regain some control over my schedule, I've spent all year doing meal prep, and I'm back on the same compound lift routine that got me into the 1000lb club years back. I put together a decent little home gym, and now I want to stack the deck with some peps (I have zero experience) so I can actually be a decent example for my kid(s) rather than letting them watch me slide down the same slippery slope.
Looking forward to lurking, learning, and maybe someday maybe eventually share something vaguely useful to the overall discussion.
