Howdy, all!

I'm Beth, and I am genuinely glad to have come across this forum.

Late twenties, and my weight has been a struggle for as far back as I can recall. While growing up, every one of my siblings was naturally thin, and I was the "chubby one." As I got older I did exactly what they did (cycling, lifting weights, playing sports), yet where they seemed to build muscle, I kept putting on fat.

My mom and a string of doctors tried things: calorie counting, diet after diet, supplements, thyroid medication, the rest. Whatever I did, the most I ever dropped was 10–15 pounds. In the end the story became that "something hormonal" must be going on, yet real answers never arrived. PCOS, endometriosis, autoimmune disorders and other candidates were all tested and always came back negative. Any mention of weight management medication got waved away - I was "too young," "too healthy," or insurance would not cover it and it was "too expensive."

Older now, mid-PhD and working full-time, it dawned on me that my body has to keep up with my life, and enough was enough. So I began researching, and pushing for myself, far more seriously. That is when I found out my A1C was elevated and that I met the criteria for morbid obesity (4'11 @ 228lbs).

Tirzepatide started 8 weeks ago, and I have come down from 228 to 216. For the first time my body feels like it is genuinely responding. GHK-Cu starts in the next few weeks.

Along the way I hope to meet more like-minded people, and to explore extra peptides and long-term strategies for better health.

Looking forward to learning from everyone here, and connecting with you all.

Hey Beth, welcome aboard! Great to hear Tirzepatide has been effective for you — I’m beginning it myself tomorrow, so I’m eager to find out what it does for me. And juggling a PhD with a full-time job is seriously brutal; I’m already swamped just with undergrad, so I can’t picture handling your load. I wish I had that kind of stamina, but I’m feeling pretty fried academically.

That's so thrilling! I felt quite nervous before my initial shot, yet it didn't hurt at all and I barely noticed any reactions. Let's hope your first time is just as smooth.
