Hi all,
Following the forum's guidelines, I'll share my introduction and a bit about myself.
I work as a researcher (yes, genuinely
) and hold a PhD in neuroimmunology. Right now I live in a country that isn't where I'm from, and I'm hoping to relocate from here before long.
Alternative approaches to health have always fascinated me, especially since my profession technically falls into that area too.
My main reason for being here is to learn, simply because I'm curious by nature.
There are a couple of reasons I want to begin my journey with GLP-1s specifically, and they're probably not the typical ones you come across here.
First, I have AuDHD and experience a lot of food noise (honestly, noise of all kinds lol) - I'm at a point in my life where I feel very triggered and my brain is constantly chasing dopamine, so I'd like to switch that off until things improve for me.
Second, I have lymphedema, mainly in my legs, caused by many years of birth control, and I want to find out whether I can get rid of some of the inflammation I have.
Truthfully, I don't have much weight to lose (maybe 5 kg?), I've been training consistently 4x week + walking for over a decade, and I have a coach for my programs. My nutrition and supplements are dialed in, since I'm also a registered nutritionist in my home country and I like to practice what I preach.
Any good conversation, advice, food for thoughts is always going to be very welcome
Thanks for having me here!
