Hey everyone, time I introduced myself. I am Jimi, 40, and I have shed more than 280 pounds overall — a total lifestyle overhaul, bariatric surgery and GLP-1 all played a part. It has been a long road: plateaus and setbacks alongside the wins, operations for loose skin, a serious gym habit, teaching myself nutrition, and honestly discovering who I am after spending most of my life overweight.
The reason I signed up is simple: metabolic health and GLP-1s fascinate me, on a personal level and a scientific one. Muscle retention, appetite regulation, insulin resistance, visceral fat, the medications themselves, long-term maintenance and peptides — all of it has eaten a lot of my research time. Nobody warns you how hard this gets mentally, physically and emotionally, particularly when people assume it is “just eat less and move more.”
Learning, sharing experiences, supporting people and having honest talks without judgment — that is why I am here. My respect goes to anyone making an effort with their health and their life, whether that is day one, year five, weighing up surgery, on GLP-1s, or fighting to hold onto the loss long term.
Eager to learn from everyone here.
