Glad to be part of this space, and I'm eager to pick up knowledge from those who've been at it longer.

For over 40 years I've cycled through yo-yo dieting, and every round left me heavier than before. Along the way I've picked up non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insomnia, severe inflammation, weakness, morbid obesity, and a feeling that I'd pass away before my 92-year-old mother does. The sole reason I'm not diabetic is that I barely consume any carbs.

My reta journey began NYE 2025, and the improvement came almost right away. No weight has come off yet (AI tells me this can be typical when metabolic dysfunction is severe), yet my appetite has dropped a lot, the food I eat is far healthier, constant pain is gone, I have energy, my thinking is sharper, my ADHD symptoms have eased considerably, and I'm finally getting close to the real therapeutic doses used in the Phase 3 OA trials.

Eventually I do want to see weight come off, and that could take until week 16-20. Over the past week my RHR went from 53 up to 60, which makes me think the metabolic repair is finishing up and fat loss may be about to begin. For once, I'm actually anticipating this month's lipid panel.

I'd really like to connect with others who've spent years dealing with metabolic problems, particularly NAFLDS (it goes by a different name now) or PCOS. Fitness is improving, inches are disappearing, and I feel better, but I truly need hope that the scale will finally budge!

Thank you to everyone who runs and moderates this site. We need this.

I haven't dealt with any metabolic problems. That said, yo-yo dieting has been part of most of my life. For roughly 8 years now, I've kept off more than 140 lbs. Over the past 16 months, I've used TIRZ purely as a way to prevent regain and quiet the food noise, which just makes it simpler for me to stick with good choices. My dose is only 2.5 mg weekly, and that's enough to handle everything for me.

It's surprising that you haven't had any loss after being on Reta for so long — what's your dose? Have you tracked what you eat or added any activity, like walking?

Welcome, and I hope things go really well for you!

My dose has gone up in very small steps, beginning at 0.5 mg taken as split doses. Now I'm at 5 mg, though that doesn't concern me - others dealing with metabolic issues have reported that nothing much happened for them until they landed on the correct dose all at once. My goal is 8 mg, but I'd be open to 12 mg if that's what it takes.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. The weight didn't appear over just a few months, so shedding it fast isn't realistic.

On the movement front, walking is largely off the table because of disability, yet I've begun taking brief walks using a rollator. I have to reach a weight that makes knee replacement possible! After that, I'll be able to do more exercise.

I appreciate the kind words, and your results are fantastic! I hope to achieve something similar. 🙂
