Hey all,

Happy to have found the GLP1Chat. It's nice to be around others on the same wavelength, and I'm looking forward to picking up knowledge from you folks while chipping in once I know more.

Some background on me and the road that brought me here: I'm 58 years old now. Back in my mid-to-late 40s, a bunch of health problems started showing up that didn't appear connected at the time — high blood pressure, heart palpitations, and eventually neuropathy in my feet and hands. I was carrying roughly 35 extra pounds, eating badly, yet I still worked out harder than most folks my age. My old joke was that I was “fat fit.”

The neuropathy rattled me enough that I got serious about understanding my own health. Blood work came back showing an elevated A1C and that I was borderline type 2 diabetic. That pushed me to dig into insulin, insulin resistance, and nutrition. Books by Jason Fung and Benjamin Bikman played a part in getting me to overhaul my diet, begin fasting, and drop processed carbs.

Roughly eight months later, I had gone from about 215 pounds down to about 180. It seemed like a miracle. My blood pressure got better, I felt enormously improved, and many of the problems I'd been facing appeared to ease once my weight, diet, and lifestyle shifted.

I kept most of that weight off, though it took constant effort every single day. Earlier this year I had climbed back to around 200 pounds when a friend put me onto Retatrutide. Since I started it, I've come back down to about 183 pounds, but what matters more is how much less difficult everything feels. It genuinely seems to have repaired my broken metabolism.

A few months into Retatrutide, my blood work got better on every measure: lipids, blood sugar, kidney function, liver enzymes, and blood pressure. My doctor wanted to know what I'd been up to, and although he told me he couldn't endorse it, he said other patients of his were doing the same thing and seeing similar outcomes.

As far as I'm concerned, Retatrutide has been an outright miracle up to this point. Diet and exercise helped me enormously, but this has made holding onto progress feel far easier and more sustainable.

I'm sticking around to keep learning, particularly about peptides and how to use them in a safe, responsible way. Thanks once more for having me in this community.

Hey there, fellow westerner.

Appreciate you sharing how things have been going for you, and having a Dr who's on board — even just partly — is a good thing.

With the state of health care in BC, those of us who aren't young anymore have to stay on top of our own health.

All the best and take care.
