Greetings from NYC!
A friend recommended this group to me after looking for better solutions to the rather bleak options provided by the US Healthcare system, bless its heart.
I lost 200 pounds 20 years ago through diet and exercise, and kept that off within a 25-lb range for about 20 years. Then I quit smoking in 2022, the process I refer to The Baby: It took nine months to do, had all sorts of complications and other injuries, did horrible things to my weight and health, and I wouldn't trade quitting smoking for the world regardless. I've only ever heard women discuss childbirth in similar terms, lol. Ergo, The Baby.
I've put on about 80 pounds in three years, and after fixing all the other issues post-nicotine (food, digestive woes, and I learneed what straight up chemical depression entailed) I've been struggling to get back in shape again. Turns out that losing 200 pounds at 23 and losing 80-100 at 46 are two different beasts. I've had to throw most of my old weight management tactics out the window; nevertheless, the quest to get rid of the Baby weight is on.
A caring doctor tried backending me into a Victoza Rx covered by insurance, and I found it did wonders for my mood but little for my weight/appetite. Add in the lack of consistency of stock/availabilty, and the large lapses of time I could use it (which I know is a no-no) it was time to try something more effective.
I've been reading up on this vast body of knowledge here and exploring the options and want to give Reta a shot and used all the advice I found to ID some potential leads. In just 7 hours this gave me new hope again and made GLPs within reach in a realistic way. Look forward to this journey with you all!
