Hello!

I'm a mid-30 Aussie lady from insane Melbourne-town.

I've been on Semaglutide for several years now, and have maintained a healthy BMI and body composition for over 1 year. I started off on the recommended dosing regimen of 1mg/week, but quickly found I only needed partial and/or less frequent doses to achieve and then maintain my goal weight.

I also suffered from bingeing/purging since I was a teenager, and semaglutide has cured me of this scourge. I now have no desire to binge, and even when I eat a bit too much, I have no desire to purge either. I consider myself completely free from my eating disorder. I have gotten into strength training and now focus my nutrition around getting adequate protein to fuel my muscles. Because of this, I consider GLP1's not only a miracle for the physical body, but also for the mind and mental health. My mind is free to think of other things, rather than trying to (unsuccessfully) quiet the voice nagging me to binge eat.

I love these medications and am excited to have found this community to speak with and learn from other GLP1 enthusiasts. Also keen to learn more about other peptides.

Wow that's a major win.

I use them simply for weight control but I have seen other people get major wins. For instance, a buddy of mine has borderline cured his abuse of "booze". He still partakes but it's at a pretty healthy level now.

Yes major win. They have been life-changing. I honestly have never felt this mentally healthy in my life, and I want to evangelise to the world about these drugs. Unfortunately, I think many doctors will be scared off by a patient with an eating disorder history and reluctant to prescribe - even though bulimia and binge-eating disorder aren't driven by the same desire to be extremely thin that anorexia is. They're more to do with poor impulse control and emotional dysregulation, so GLP1's aren't really the same kind of danger in the hands of someone with bulimia or BED as they'd be for someone with anorexia. Unfortunately, doctors are so risk-averse that I doubt that distinction would matter to them, and so others who could genuinely benefit won't be able to access them. This is why I am all for people educating themselves and exercising agency over their own lives and health, glad to have found this community to meet people doing the same.
