Hello from the UK. Dan here, 40s, and new to GLP-1s. My first Reta dose went in around ten days ago, and finding these forums has been a stroke of luck.

Overweight for years, then an injury a couple of years ago added a lot more. My clothes have steadily been getting tighter and more uncomfortable ever since. Blood pressure meds followed, and I did little about any of it for a while. Last year I tried the gym for the first time in many years, but it didn't stick and I really felt my age.

Never been a massive eater, but plenty of liquid calories were coming from sweet frizzy drinks, with sweets and crap piled on some evenings and weekends. ADHD meds have been part of my life for a few years, and I noticed that whilst hunger doesn't hit me and I have to remind myself to eat during the week, the weekends bring a massive appetite because I skip the tablets. Waking up hungry and able to eat rubbish all weekend was never a thing pre meds, and it took a while to even spot that it was happening when not taking them.

My partner was on MJ for a while but the price got ridiculous. Reta came up quite recently, and while I was busy researching, she bought some from a reseller and paid way too much, although it's still way cheaper than MJ through a pharmacy and is plenty for both of us for a month or two. Giving up fizzy drinks has been tried a few times over the years and I have done for months but it's always crept back in. Sweeteners I can't stand, so it's only ever Coke. Dropping it cold turkey is fine by me, but the sugar would just get replaced with sweets or chocolate. The source made me nervous, my BP skyrocketing made me more nervous, but it's been a good start and I'm looking forward to the journey. Amazing results so far, and the main part for me is not picking at things in the evenings or grazing on rubbish at the weekend. No cravings and no real hunger.

Genuinely grateful for this community, and lurking alone has taught me plenty.

Welcome aboard. Reta plus staying consistent can carry you pretty far. Keep going to the gym no matter what. Ease off on your training a bit, and move forward in small increments. I'm 60 and I'm at the gym daily. You've got this.

Nice one for giving it a go, mate! Nobody gets anywhere without making an attempt, and if we never stumbled along the way, we'd never pick up any lessons. At the start, progress creeps along, but the moment that rhythm clicks, I doubt anything will hold you back.

There's a wealth of knowledge on this forum, so jump in and lose yourself in everyone's shared experience.

Appreciate it! You're right — restarting is tough, though watching the results come in feels great. Being older just means the payoff shows up a bit more slowly, but I'm eager to get back to it.

Thanks, mate. Absolutely — this place is incredibly helpful, particularly given how much rubbish is floating around.
