Do you play at the college level?
Leave the foot pain alone and it won't improve as you get older. The trouble with "protocols" is that they can hide what's going on, which leads to overuse and makes things worse. That probably isn't what you want to hear, and at your age I wouldn't have wanted to hear it either. Before you commit, think about where you want to be long term. It's tough to see how well you feel right now until you have later years to measure it against, but the "good times" are happening now and they don't stick around forever. My own approach would be to hit your natural ceiling first before reaching for anything. A lot of people chase the short term upside, confuse it for lasting value, lack real perspective...and then confirmation bias locks them in.
So I don't come across like a parent, and to offer some perspective, I just turned 39. People often tell me I look like I'm in my late 20's, which I never aimed for, and now value more than I did when I was younger. There were 2 major stretches of my life where I thought in relatively short term ways..at least by my standards, and it landed me in a year long residential wilderness facility, then a 10 year sober stint, and after that a 10 year run of IV needle use. I realize rec/hard drugs aren't the same, but once you step into these things your inhibition usually drops, ego creeps in, and you end up doing what you swore you wouldn't. That was likely more than you asked for, but I try not to leave empty posts and I hope it gives pause to people who wouldn't otherwise look into this stuff if it weren't going so mainstream.
TLDR - 1. yes you can leverage things to reduce recovery time. 2. said avoid things that will prematurely age you. Your later years already come with necessary things that will age you. Be proactive but not in a way which requires downstream reactivity.
