Reta has been part of my routine for roughly 1.5 months now, and I have to say the results have genuinely surprised me. Several years back I gave Sema a shot for around 2 weeks, but the nausea it triggered was so severe and relentless that I stopped. With Reta, that problem simply hasn't shown up. Because of how badly Sema treated me, I chose to begin at a very small dose — .5mg — and held steady there through the first 4 weeks. Over the past 2 weeks I've moved up to 1mg, though I'm honestly not convinced the bump was necessary, and I have no plans to raise it again in the near future.

For anyone who hasn't yet taken that first step — here's what it's been like for me. While on reta, food barely crosses my mind, and hunger is basically absent... If it does show up, it's typically around 7 or 8 at night after I've gone the whole day without eating. The odd part is that when hunger does hit, what I want is healthier food. Junk food was never really my thing, but butter, bread, and fatty meats were. In the past, whenever I'd grind through long stretches of strict dieting built around chicken breast and vegetables, eating them felt like a chore. These days it's different — I genuinely want the healthy stuff.

What's strange is that even though I'm eating far less, my energy feels like it's through the roof. I've never needed much sleep or struggled with low energy, but I figured cutting calories this hard would eventually show up as some kind of crash. Instead, I've felt the reverse.

There has been 1 fairly significant downside with Reta: difficulty getting to sleep. My whole life, falling asleep has been effortless once I decide it's time — and I'm not exaggerating when I say effortless. Most nights I have zero memory of the process; eyes shut, and 15 seconds later I'm out. Since starting reta, there have been several nights where sleep doesn't come until 4 or 4:30 in the morning, and plenty more where it doesn't arrive until 1. The wild part, though, is that I still wake up feeling fine the next day, with no tiredness at all. Before Reta, anything under 5-5.5 hours of sleep left me feeling terrible the following day. That hasn't happened since I started Reta. Where the energy is coming from, I couldn't tell you, and honestly I'd be lying if I said it doesn't worry me 2%, lol. Sleep matters enormously for humans.

That said, falling asleep has become easier as time has gone on, though I've clearly noticed the first couple of days after a shot are the hardest for sleep.

Beyond that — I genuinely have nothing bad to report.

Over 6 weeks I'm down about 14 lbs, and I managed it without destroying myself at the gym. I still train — but rather than needing 7 days a week to see that kind of result, I've gotten there with just 2-3 gym sessions per week.

I'm 5'10", turning 37 in a week, and my starting weight was 210 lbs. Fire away with any questions!

Welcome. Dropping 14 lbs is amazing - especially when starting at 210lbs. Nice work.

What weight are you aiming for?
If everything lined up ideally, I'd say somewhere around 170-175. Roughly 10 years back I really committed and got myself into amazing condition -- I was putting in 3-4 miles of running every day, sticking to a strict diet, and doing plenty of weight training and ab work, which brought me down to 158. Looking back, I was likely too thin at that point. That said, even hitting 180lbs would make me thrilled -- that would probably be the lightest I've been in 7 or 8 years.
