My husband and 21 year old son are on 1 mg 2x a week. My husband has been experiencing deep muscle back pain since he was on .8 mg 2x a week. Is this generally thought to be electrolyte and magnesium related, and does it resolve? He takes a bunch of vitamins, including mag glycinate so it's surprising.

My son is having a lot of front cramping which radiates all the way down to feeling a burning when he pees, but not UTI. Could this also be related to electrolytes too?

None of that sounds like any typical side effects. Has the reta just been started recently? I would be inclined to not use it , it sounds odd and unusual, and get a medical opinion. How do you know it is not a UTI?

Contaminants causing toxic effects from peptides are rare but not impossible, the fact that there are odd effects in two people at once raise the chances that this might be possible, still quite unlikely, but probably better safe than sorry and stop the reta and get checked out, and take it with you to get checked if they find something wrong . I cannot see any possible reason electrolytes have anything to do with it unless they are taking too much of something and that is causing problems. At a minimum a urine test is needed as well as basic bloods, the only thing I can think of that could cause those symptoms in 2 people is something toxic causing kidney pain ( assuming the back pain is from the kidneys ) and urinary tract inflammation?, not likely and probably just 2 random odd unrelated events, but risking even a small chance of kidney toxicity does not sound like a good idea.

Me and my mom are taking reta as well from the same vials and we haven't experienced these symptoms so I don't think it's contamination. I've read other places about the various aches and pains and it seems magnesium is suggested. My son has fatty liver disease and he said the pain goes away after he pees, it's like the full bladder was pushing on things. He also has digestive pains when he eats or poops, and it goes away after pooping. I was thinking it could be the slower digestion, maybe constipation even though he doesn't really think he is. Abdominal discomfort seems to be a common side effect.

How old is your kid? That burning while peeing sounds like a enlarged prostate like a ton of older guys get. I'd drop the R for a while, and consult a doctor if it doesn't clear up. Good luck.

I've got the back pain, but none of the other symptoms you describe. It's well north of the kidneys, center of the back, on either side of my spine. Blood test showed kidneys are in excellent condition.

It feels like extreme muscle fatigue but dissipates when I lie down or lean my elbows on a table in front of me. It started while I was on Reta, but I was on Reta only briefly, a few months ago. I switched back to Tirz but the muscle pain remained.

I take Magnesium Glycinate but I'm starting to suspect that I'm not keeping hydrated enough.

Personally id give it a break and get some bloods done, can get them reasonably priced privately so they know where they stand at what to watch out for. Really everyone should prior to diving into peps.

Other than that when i first started i struggled with hydrating myself enough so doubled up on electrolytes each day and ensured i was drinking enough and the hydration symptoms passed after a few weeks. So id defo make sure they are both drinking enough water, especially your son.

21 and he's had fatty liver with associated pain for a year (diagnosed by his doctor, u/s, and bloodwork)

So to update, in talking with my husband more, he's been drinking and peeing a ton, so it seems like he wasn't retaining it. I had him take liquid IV yesterday as well as a higher quality mag glycinate I've been on (because my levels weren't high enough on the brand my husband takes) and my husband didn't have the back pain last night so it seems that's the issue.

I'm still waiting for my son to get up, but last night he admitted he hadn't been eating much at all these days so I suspect it's related. I made sure he ate dinner and had electrolytes as well to see how he is this morning.

Everyone's had bloodwork in the last year or less, so there wasn't any concerns before starting reta (besides the fatty liver and being overweight). I'll talk to them about skipping the next dose/lowering while we figure out what's going on. Neither wants to stop at this point.

Liquid IV is a great hydration drink, but it is very shy of Mag and Pota, as it is mostly salt. Those on Reta need to pound the Brawndo!!! (All kidding aside) More electrolytes than you might think, are necessary.

Take a good look at your daily requirements for each electrolyte and take what you can. I tend to drink one or two Liquid IV's per day and about 4 drinks of Nutricost electrolyte mix. Even with all that I'm not matching my daily requirements. So I sometimes take Mg and Potassium supplements if I start cramping.

Try taking taurine powder with your electrolytes.

I gotta bang 3 or 4 grams of taurine daily along with a quality potassium pill and magnesium glyc twice a day or ill get crippling lower back pumps after walking 20 yards. Even with the supplementation my bloods will show lowest level on the spectrum of normal. Ive had the slight burn pissing on occasion when ive gone all weekend without realizing i only drank 48oz water all weekend.

Taurine is great. Wow, is it do to anabolics or why the pumps?

I think some genetic and years of boozin with a dash of spinal degeneration... My mom and grandmother always had severe muscle cramping and supplemented pot/magnes....

Why are you taking 2 doses per week? It’s interesting to me so many people like to be test dummies. They have never done this in the clinical trials.
