Hey there!

I'm a woman in my mid-30s, living in the wild chaos that is Melbourne, Australia.

Semaglutide has been part of my life for a number of years, and for more than 1 year my BMI and body composition have stayed in a healthy range. The suggested schedule of 1mg/week is where I began, yet it didn't take long to realize that smaller doses and/or spacing them further apart were enough to reach my target weight and keep it there.

Since my teenage years I also struggled with bingeing/purging, and semaglutide has freed me from that affliction. These days I feel no pull to binge, and if I do overeat a little, purging holds no appeal either. I see myself as fully recovered from my eating disorder. Strength training has become a big part of my routine, and my nutrition now revolves around getting enough protein to support my muscles. For that reason, I see GLP1's as a miracle not just for the body, but for the mind and mental health too. My thoughts are finally available for other things, instead of trying (without success) to silence the voice pushing me toward binge eating.

These medications mean a lot to me, and I'm glad to have discovered this community where I can talk with and learn from other GLP1 enthusiasts. I'm also eager to find out more about other peptides.

That's a huge victory.

I take them just to manage my weight, though I've watched others achieve big things too. Take a mate of mine—he's basically beaten his problem with "booze". He still drinks, but these days it's at a fairly reasonable amount.

Absolutely, a huge victory. These medications have completely transformed my life. To be honest, my mental health has never been better, and I feel compelled to tell everyone about them. Sadly, I suspect a lot of doctors will be put off by a patient who has a history of eating disorders and will hesitate to prescribe—despite the fact that bulimia and binge-eating disorder don't stem from the same drive to be ultra-thin that anorexia does. They're tied more to impulse control problems and emotional dysregulation, so GLP1's don't pose the same type of risk for someone with bulimia or BED as they would for someone with anorexia. Regrettably, doctors are so cautious that I doubt they'd care about that difference, meaning others who could truly benefit will be denied access. That's exactly why I support people learning for themselves and taking control of their own lives and health, and I'm happy to have discovered this community where others are doing the same.

Nice work on getting your eating problems under control. Honestly, these products are excellent and fairly safe as long as they aren’t misused.

They're remarkably safe. When taken responsibly by people of normal weight who struggle with binge-type disordered eating and have the proper approach, they aren't merely health neutral—they're actually health positive. I'm so happy I chose to give them a go.
