Calling all the pretty ladies

I saw noticeable results with the blue light for acne, which luckily I have not been having issues with since starting tirz, which has been amazing for my skin (reduced inflammation, leads me automatically to better diet choices and reduces the compulsion/addiction to picking my skin.)

I don’t have any long term results for red light or the other colors as I am also either all about OR very lazy with skin care. However, I noticed in the past when my body focused repetitive disorder (like OCD’s stupider cousin who clean the sink but will destroy my face) was really bad, if I did a 10 minute series each of blue, green and red light that my skin would recover more quickly. I like to wear the mask and then talk in an alien voice when my husband comes in.

I also have an alien character I do, Gwaartha, when I wear sheet masks. I will walk in my best alien movement pattern, tilt my head with jerky movements and refer to myself in 3rd person while annoying my husband as he watches TV. I amuse myself greatly!!

Shit, do I need to buy more machines?🤣… I already have PMD microdermabrasion, a galvanic facial device, LED light mask, a high radio frequency device, and even a fat cavitation ultrasound machine (which I’ve only used once because the during/session tinnitus is a LOT)…did I mention I’m vain?

You and me both! I’m vain as all get out 😅 but more in an ‘I want and need to look beautiful at all times’ kind of way. Also - I haven’t done any of home machine procedures because I always doubted a) the effectiveness, and b) if I’d accidently damage my skin. Buuuut seeing how you have some, what could you recommend I buy for at home use? Other than a cheap Temu LED light mask which I binned after one use (because it was Temu) and a derma roller, I got nothing.

Retinoic acid (tretinoin) is going to be your gold standard in speeding up cell turnover and boosting collagen. Peptides (topical copper peptides and perhaps injectables) are more for optimizing skin functions like barrier strength and hydration.

All in all, you won’t get the benefits of anti-aging from peptides alone.

Recommendations in addition to tretinoin:

1) Korean sunscreen: SPF 50+ <<these are more affordable and effective, you should try out different brands to see what you like and always have an arsenal. Be careful buying on Amazon. You want it to be MADE in Korea.

2) The Ordinary- Multi peptide + Copper. Very affordable to dabble in.

3) HYDRATION— your skin will naturally shed dead skin when it is optimally hydrated. It shouldn’t feel tight all the time. Use a thick moisturizer at night and play around with your tretinoin (sandwich method or even after moisturizer) to what your skin best tolerates.

4) at home microneedling (dermarollers are safe and effective). Don’t waste your money on fancy serums. Glycerin is way better than HA, ask any cosmetic chemist.

5) A good chemical peel or two once a year. My personal favorites >> Jessner peel and TCA 13%.

Bonus tip: Hydrofacials are a waste of money.

I have to get my hands on some Tret! I heard estrogen cream for your face too, but I’d be worried to use that daily as a firming product 🤣

Tret. Start low and go slow. Sandwich it to minimize dryness.

Def want to try estrogen cream for my face.

Following because my partner wants me to make a ghk-cu and snap-8 HA serum for her.

Also, can someone explain exactly what tret does for you?

Fwiw, I have been making and using my own AHK-Cu HA serum with panthenol and niacinamide for a couple months now on my scalp and I swear I see some fresh growth up there. Could be placebo and wishful thinking though. Feels nice at least.

When purchasing red light therapy, study up on the wavelength and irradiance level! It does amazing things, but you have to make sure you are getting an adequate “dose” of the red light to see any results. Obviously, that translates into cost.

I really like the PMD microdermabrasion-you can see the results instantly. Mild results I should say, but with weekly treatments the results are definitely noticeable, especially for scarring and hyperpigmentation. It s also easy to fuck it up getting too aggressive, but if you stick to the gentle tips and follow the directions ( don’t YOLO it! I have and don’t recommend it!) it’s chef’s kiss.

The radio frequency device is also nice, and unlike PMD you can’t really mess up unless you touch your septum ring to it, which I’ve done and will give a weird little buzz shock, mild. The purple tips are good for acne/fungus (sorry, I forget which gas is in them) and the orange tips (argon? I forget) that come with most machines are good for general skin. I do notice a bit more of a glow from my products if I “drive them in” so to speak with the device. I haven’t noticed any improvements with wrinkles with it.

The galvanic device…eh. If you drive the change one way it will definitely loosen shmutz for extractions, but over doing extractions is where I get into trouble so I’ve not used it in ages. It certainly won’t hurt your skin, but I’m not sure how effective it is re: using it charged the other way (sorry it’s been ages). You use one charge for extractions and the opposite for driving products into the skin. They’re cheap, but I can’t say it’s worth it except for the extraction bit.

I’m going to throw caution (and anonymity) to the wind, bc I love this forum and YOLO.

While my skin is on a good path to looking decent, without getting a mini face lift (I’m saving that for turning 40) or feather fillers, how TF do I fix my mouth lines?! I notice them every single day and they make me miserable.

The products I’m using slap and have helped heaps, but I’m a side sleeper & have a very expressive face, so these lines just don’t go away 😭

@HouseCat & @ERnurse2014 , what at home machine treatments would help with this?
