I flush with about 20u on the 13mm. I have a shit load of cheap Amazon 1ml syringes I use. I'm not worried about a wee bit,

I agree with y'all. It's pretty small in any case, so long as you're doing something to mitigate the hold-back. But if you are buying your filter supplies for the first time, it would make sense to buy the 4mm IF they can filter 3ml, as has been frequently reported.

Guess I'll find out.

As I have titrated up my dosages, more and more of my 'tides are reconstituted with less than 3ml in any event, for example 10mg TB500, you don't wanna reconstitute that with 3ml unless you wanna pin 60 units for a 2mg dose. Same with Tirz 60mg vials for a 15mg/6D dosage. 75clicks? I don't think so...

in tirz case, I'd throw at least 3 vials together. I don't find myself using too many low-mg peps, so that'd be something I'd have to measure out, just like you said you're going to. how often/how long is the protocol on the TB500 for you? can you throw more of those together?

Another good mitigation strategy.

I had meant to post something of the sort in previous filtering threads. If you're reconstituting several vials, you can do 'em at once and mitigate some of the extra needle expense; I hadn't thought of re-using the filter if the products are the same, but that makes sense too.

I use a 5mL luer syringe, I only add 1mL bac to each vial, so 3mL total. I pull it out of each vial at the same time, attach the filter, then you know the rest.

Can you say why? Don't they have less holdback? Maybe the point is that with proper purging, the difference in holdback is insignificant?

I pretty much said why in the rest of my reply that wasn't quoted. The general public peptide enthusiasts only ever heard of and began using 4mm filters because the peptide test grifter guy got a steal on a large quantity and decided to turn them into a "thing" for profit when the rest of experienced and knowledgeable folks were using 13mm and 25mm filters.

4mm filters are designed for use with 1ml glass ampoules, and lack the required surface area to effectively filter larger fluid volumes while increasing the risk of failure due to excessive back-pressure and blowouts; all of which are likely to be problematic for people who are not skilled experts at filtering.

Just like people who refer to their dosage in "units" instead of mg/ml, when someone says that they're effectively filtering with 4mm filters that translates to "I have no idea what I'm doing".

haha - well, resenting someone making money on a deal is not necessarily a good enough reason. Unless spite is a good reason. Maybe it is🤣.

But rest of your response makes sense.

I've been using 22μm PES 4mm filters for a while now. I haven't had any issues with them. I push either 2.5mL or 3mL of peps that I filter followed by 0.08mL of bac water to flush out remaining pep from filter.

Why would you refer to your dosage in mg/ml? Do people need to know my concentration as well as my units of mass per day/week/whatever for a firm grasp of my dose?

I assume he means when people ask for advice and say 'I'm currently taking 20 units/week' or suchlike. That 20 units is meaningless without knowing how many mg/ml is in a vial.

Having returned from my latest deployment, I came home to, among other things, a box of 100 4mm Biologix filters, 08-PES0422R.

Conveniently enough, I had absolutely run out of every peptide I currently take during my hitch, so the first order of business was to reconstitute 7 different cartridges. The usual suspects, Tirz, Reta, Cagri, VIP, BP, TB, GHK-Cu.

Various reconstitution levels, everything from 1ml to 3ml. I ran each one thru a 4mm filter. Based on the tip from @AlexSilver I put the cartridge into the pen before filling, which guarantees the stopper isn't going to pop out the bottom if venting goes wrong. (I need to come up with a stand to hold the pen vertical during this process, it's a bit cumbersome with 2 needles and the pen standing upright).

There is noticeably more pressure needed to push thru the 4ml filter, but not a ridiculous amount. Maybe 4lb pressure to push thru a 13mm and 8lb pressure for the 4? (Don't quote me on those exact #'s; I'll try to find my trigger pull scale and confirm those numbers.)

For me, this was 100% a success. Air purge gets "some" of the peptide back. Flushing the filter gets more back. But how much? Much like sparging in moonshine, you aren't going to recover it all. A % will be left behind. It only makes sense that the smaller the filter, the smaller the lost volume, even after flushing.

And, all this is a moot point. Out Of Stock. Again.

So even though Biologix says up to 1ml on those, you put 3ml through some of them?

Yes, I did. It has been widely reported that 3-4ml works fine; as well as some reports that it didn't work. In fact, many 4mm filters advertised up to 4ml. So I bought these to try.

I also have the Biologix 13mm, but was appalled at how much I was losing to filtering. Which led me to air purging, which recoups some. Pre-wetting, flushing. Lots of options. But it seemed to me that losing less to start with, then employing mitigation strategies was the best option.

You'll have to decide if this is an acceptable alternative for you. I did 7 in a row with no issues. It either blows out or it doesn't. I've had a 13 blow out, but not a 4mm. So far...
