Hi all! A 36F who stumbled into grey by accident back in November. After a few months of chasing insurance approval, the only options — like many before me — were paying out of pocket or going to tele. Both were prohibitively expensive. All because of a diagnosis technicality (T1D). Even with over 200lbs to lose, many failed attempts and documented insulin resistance, insurance said no. Insulin needs were climbing, and thankfully the scale wasn't, but complications rearing their ugly head was only a matter of time. Something had to give. This forum was one of the firsts I saw, though at the time the cheapest tele company was still the goal. Whatever combination of search terms led here will never be remembered, but before getting stuck on the tele train, the dark grey was found and a first kid was ordered less than a week after the final insurance appeal was denied. Now it's been 2 months, 28lbs is gone, my a1c is down 3 points and my insulin bees have dropped so drastically that pods now expire — something that never happened pre-glp.

As a T1D with autoimmune issues and insulin resistance, Tirz and Cag were my route (since us T1Ds don't make our own amylin in addition to insulin). My BP is now in a normal range, something not seen in 10 years, sleep is better (still a work in progress though) and energy is higher. The gym hasn't been restarted, unfortunately — motivation is a struggle after a bad trainer in 2020 killed my love of it. That is a whole other story; the first trainer was great but he left, and his replacement was just not in the right line of work. A cold climate is home now (-38F last week) so leaving the house much isn't appealing, but with energy improving, the gym has become a must to get some of this energy out. A walking pad is also being looked into for movement during the day since I WFH.

Being part of this forum is exciting, as it's been very useful in my research, especially the clinical studies found here. This rabbit hole is one I love and the direction of the science is genuinely fascinating. As we all know, there is a pep for everything, and an eager sponge is ready to learn it all with a community of like minded individuals.
