Hi all

Time for my introduction

I'm a 53-year-old male, prediabetic since 2020. Last year I had an NSTEMI and learned my cholesterol was high. Through calorie restriction and exercise I dropped 10kg, but then I stalled for 3 months. To reach a better BMI I still need to lose at least 8kg. When I asked my doc to prescribe Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, he told me it would cost $500 per month and that I should just stay on metformin... After another month I decided to try getting it online. I just need to get past this weight loss plateau, hopefully affordably, and keep the heart attack away... sorry for the long post

My doctor took the same approach — prescribed Metformin and argued against Tirzepatide, mostly because of the price, and also mentioned that I have high muscle mass (???). I told her cost wasn't an issue for me. After 3 months on Metformin I stopped on my own and went with a wellness firm. These days I handle my own sourcing.

Once I'd dropped over 100 lbs, I returned to see the doctor. I admitted to her that I'd obtained Tirzepatide myself. The weight loss impressed her, but the method did not. Oh well!

My doctor isn't helpful either.

I wanted a stronger Mounjaro pen so I could use the click-count method to take a smaller dose and stretch my money further. They said no.

At $140 for each 7.5mg shot every week, that pace can't last!!

It's frustrating. I'm in the same boat — or maybe worse — since they won't even prescribe metformin for me. Their approach is to wait until I'm fully diabetic. On top of that, the endocrinologists who are permitted to prescribe GLPs have a huge backlog ever since the French Sécurité Sociale started covering GLP1 for morbidly obese patients 3 months ago, so those of us "on the limit" can't get an appointment at all.... That's why I'm thinking about going grey...
