Hi all,

Finding this forum has made me really glad. The volume of useful material available here is huge!

A little about where I'm coming from. I stand 5"11 and I'm in my 50s. When 2022 began, my weight had climbed all the way to 307 pounds and even simple tasks were a struggle. Back in my younger years I was an athlete and stayed very active. So I made up my mind to change my lifestyle, adopting a low carb/keto way of eating plus an active routine (walking, biking, and gym workouts), and it worked extremely well. Come summer 2023, I was down at 202 pounds and quite muscular. Now, a few years on, roughly 35-40 pounds have come back. One factor was that I cut back on activity because of significant injuries that required 9 months of rehab, and another was that I started eating carbs more often again.

Several times I've attempted to get back onto my keto plan, and each attempt has failed. Peptides struck me as something that could help me get back on track and maybe reach a sub 200 weight this time. Given my height and muscular build, I figure 185 is the weight I should aim for.

Is there anyone here who has been through something similar and can suggest which peptides, if any, would be most useful? Reta appears to get a lot of praise, and I was leaning toward trying that route.

Thank you for any feedback you can give.

Hey, I'm a former keto powerlifter! 45yr old guy, 5'9, went from 230 down to 184, aiming for around 168 eventually. I deal with a drinking issue, a coffee dependency, and I'm stuck at a desk roughly 13hrs daily.

On the appetite side, I'd recommend any of the glp 1's, though reta is what everyone's chasing lately. Tirz and sema still do the job well for hunger too; personally I find reta needs a bit more attention to calorie tracking. Bodybuilders stack it with trt to get lean, but it does the trick without gear as well. Beyond cutting food cravings, it also killed my addictions—my drinking and caffeine habits have basically vanished.

When it comes to healing, the Wolverine stack is what you're after. That's BPC-157 plus TB-500; they're sold together and with other peptides, but in your case I'd get them separately. The main reason is you end up with a longer-lasting BPC-157 half-life than what's in the combo version. You'll want to pin the BPC-157 as near to your injury sites as possible. TB-500 can go subq wherever. Look them up and you'll see what they do. There's also GLOW, which includes GHK-CU, a copper peptide aimed at skin, and KLOW, which tosses KPV into the mix on top of everything else—that one's an anti-inflammatory plus some extra stuff.

Should energy turn into a problem, some folks use peptides like mots-c, nad+ and others. I pass on those because I can't stand feeling like a pin cushion, so I use sublingual NMN that melts under my tongue instead. It'll get your energy up. Last thing—I can't swing the cost now, but if your budget allows, Timeline Mitopure Urolithin A alongside the NMN will make you actually want to do cardio given how much energy you'll have. That one's not an injection either, just 2 pills daily. I think that covers it. I'm sure others will chime in with more suggestions.

I really appreciate how detailed your answer was. There are plenty of directions worth exploring! Peptides for injury recovery are definitely on my list to look into more. Getting older basically means your body repairs and heals itself more slowly. To anyone young out there, my suggestion is: don't age.

Thanks once more. And much respect for being a power lifter. I lift heavy for my age bracket but you powerlifters are a different species. Lol

A brief progress note.

My intro went up on 6/18, and at that point the scale showed 238.8 pounds.

As of today, it reads 233.4. (-5.4)

What I've been doing: back on keto — high protein, carbs low to none — plus plenty of gym time, walking, and biking.

Also, my first research vial arrived today. Tomorrow I plan to pin 0.5mg and see whether the positive trend continues.

I've begun reading up. The goal sits at 175-185 while holding on to as much muscle and strength as I can.

Short update. Today's weigh-in: 214.0 lbs. That's 25 lbs down.

Gym sessions have stayed at 3x+ weekly, I've tacked on a lot of walking, and I'm biking again on and off.

Eating plan: 2 meals per day. Protein and fat come first. Carbs are minimal to none.

Peps:

Reta 0.50 mg, taken once every 5 days.

GLOW 70, 5 days on then 2 off. (1.67cu, .33 bpc and tb)

Hey man, I've been through keto myself and currently follow strict carnivore. Diet alone has also allowed me to shed a lot of weight.

Sounds like you're on a solid track, keep at it! 👍

What injuries are you dealing with?

Glow should be beneficial, and you might want to consider kpv as well, either on its own or as part of the klow stack, which combines glow with kpv.

Which injuries did you have? I'm just wondering.
During my teenage years, playing basketball led to multiple ankle sprains. Then late last year, one of my ankles gave out due to chronic tears plus a new sprain. It was a cycle of healing and getting hurt again. I started rehab and bracing, but eventually realized that dropping weight would be beneficial, since I wanted to steer clear of a surgery that would sideline me for 6 months.

Now I'm glad to report that my troublesome ankle is in great shape. With bracing, rehab, red - light therapy, weight loss, and GLOW, I'm fairly sure it has healed to the fullest extent possible, and my attention has shifted to preventing any further injury.

I appreciate all the feedback, everyone. The human body is amazing—when we put in the effort, it can recover.

Quick update.

207.6 on the scale this morning. That puts me 31 lbs down.

Reta dose: 0.7mg every 5 days, which works out to 0.98mg per week.

Hello Everyone,

I am happy to have found this forum. There is an overwhelming amount of great info here!

Just a quick background on me. I'm 5"11 and in my 50s. By the the start of 2022 I had ballooned up to 307 pounds and could hardly do much of anything. I had been an athlete and very active in my younger days. I decided to make some lifestyle changes and went on a low carb/keto diet and active lifestyle (walking, biking, and gym routine) that was very successful. By the summer of 2023 I had dropped down to 202 pounds with a very muscular build. Here I am a few years later and I have gained about 35-40 back, Part of the reason was reducing my activity due to some significant injuries that I had to rehab the past 9 months and going back to eating carbs more frequently.

I have tried to restart my keto regimen but have failed the last several attempts. I was thinking peptides might be the thing to help me get back on track and to perhaps a sub 200 weight this time around. I think for my height and muscular build 185 would be my target weight.

Has anyone had a similar journey and could offer advice on what if any peptides might work best? Reta seems to be highly regarded and I was thinking that might be the way.

Thanks for any and all comments.

Between April 2021 and 2023 I dropped 160lbs over 2 years — 6 months of keto followed by 18 months of Lion Diet — but I fell off the wagon in a big way. More than 100lbs came back and I ended up completely sedentary.

Now I want to get back into shape, and I'm putting together a plan (nothing started yet) to use peptides as part of the process

Even at my lowest, after that 160lb loss, I was still 50+ from where I wanted to be, so by my count there's roughly 150 to go now (sigh)

Good luck

I made several attempts to get going again on a keto-only way of eating. Every attempt fell apart somewhere around week 2 or 3, when I would crash out on carbs. During that crucial stretch while habits are still forming, Reta was exactly what I needed to quiet the noise.

My starting dose was .25mg, and I moved up to .5mg fairly fast, staying there until I recently went to 0.7mg. With doses this small, side effects have been minimal to nonexistent. For your situation, I would strongly suggest giving it a try. Given that you managed it once already, I have a lot of confidence you can repeat that success and even reach your GW using Reta or Tirz.

Best of luck to you!

Today's weigh-in came in at 202.8. That puts me 36 lb down.

Getting under 200 feels within reach — it's so close I can almost feel it.

From what I can tell, tirzepatide seems to suppress hunger far more effectively, so that might be the way to go.

That is an amazing amount of weight to lose — you deserve to feel proud, even with the setback. Setbacks are simply part of the journey.

Thanks.

From what I've looked into, it's achievable either with or without GLP1s, though these medications make the process so MUCH EASIER.

To be honest, for most people Tirz is likely the better choice over Reta. Either way, both are top-tier compounds.

Wishing you and everyone else the best on their journeys. It is so worth it!
