Hey all!
I'm a 43-year-old from Bavaria, Germany, and weight has been something I've had to manage for most of my grown-up years.
Back in 2016–2018 I dropped roughly 20 kg (44 lbs) and got down to about 71 kg (157 lbs). Sadly, across the next eight years the pounds crept back on until I was near 100 kg (220 lbs).
Come August 2026 I chose to give it another proper go. Since then I've shed around 7.5 kg (16.5 lbs) by eating a high-protein, calorie-controlled diet and lifting weights three times per week. Progress has been steady so far, and even in a deficit I'm still improving at the gym.
Losing the weight again isn't really my goal — I already know I can do that. What I actually want to solve is keeping a healthy weight long term without an ongoing battle against hunger, cravings, or food noise.
That's why GLP-1 medications caught my attention — semaglutide and tirzepatide in particular — and the part they might play in maintaining weight loss over time.
I have not begun any GLP-1 medication yet. Right now I'm sticking with my current routine while I keep reading up on the science, real-world experiences, long-term outcomes, and how these treatments work together with resistance training and preserving muscle.
Excited to learn from the community and swap experiences as I go!
