Hey all! The reason I joined is that optimizing my body and health has turned into the main thing I want to spend my time on. I've been involved in sports since I was a kid and I like training, but the finer points — nutrition, recovery, sleep, that sort of thing — were never really my strong suit. That began to shift earlier this year, when I was going through some career difficulties and a transition, and I'd wake up in the morning with no clear idea of what to do. Right around then I happened to come across a quote that basically made the point that whenever you're unsure how or where to put your time, you should put it into yourself and work on becoming the best possible version of "you"… so that's exactly what I'm doing here!

The 2nd finest bit of wisdom my Argentine horse trainer — a man who was often furious — would dole out on a regular basis was "make yourself ready." What he meant by it had nothing to do with any particular goal; it was purely about pouring time and effort, day in and day out, into bettering yourself in mind and body, so that when your chances finally showed up, you'd be in a position to seize them.

At just the right time I conveniently happened to read a quote that essentially said that if you’re ever in doubt about where/how to invest you time, invest in yourself and become the best version of “you” possible…

I definitely can't argue with that! Welcome, fellow newbie — best of luck as you work toward a better version of yourself. I'm walking a similar path, and the one thing I regret is not getting started earlier.

That's a mindset I really like. When you STAY ready, there's no need to GET ready!
