Hello! I began Reta last week and went through a tough stretch, though by today things are beginning to calm down. I'm hoping to take in what's shared here so I can improve my life, since I've ignored my health for far too long.

Appreciate the warm welcome. At this point, sleep is what's giving me grief. I was already dealing with sleep issues beforehand, so this simply intensified them. Fortunately, since I work from home and my schedule is flexible, I'm able to catch a few naps during the day. Beyond that, there's the worry that comes from not knowing what to anticipate based on what's been written up.PepBoss1 said:
Hey Xono, good to hear week 1 is calming down for you. I'm also pretty fresh around here and mostly jotting stuff down along the way, mainly so I can spot the pattern rather than make guesses. Which part has been toughest up to now?
Appreciate the advice — I'd already done some reading on this beforehand. My meals are at least 4 hrs before, and an hour prior to bed I have electrolytes. Carbs clearly work better for me, so I go with 1 slice of wheat bread plus unsweetened peanut butter.Katiushka said:
regarding sleep, what's going on?
a couple of ideas:
- avoid eating too close to bedtime, since food sits in your stomach longer and may interfere with rest
- a few people do better when they include some carbs in their final meal.
any other problems coming up for you?
what's your current dose? and what was your starting dose?
hopefully you'll get the answers you're looking for here!
Thanks! I did experience some nausea here and there, though in my view it was very slight. What was your starting dose?sicksadworld said:
Just wrapped up week 1 myself! Only dealt with a single bout of nasuea, and apart from that, nothing bad to report.
I would happily swap my side effects for yours. Sure, I've seen that the initial month is about adjusting, but I've also come across that the 2nd month, when the dose goes up, hits the hardest. Still, I'm with you 100% — hearing about the wins is exactly what keeps me optimistic and ready to push through the sides. Wishing the best to everyone here who chose to improve their lives.8Rubi24 said:
Compared to weeks of explosive diarrhea, sleep really doesn’t seem so terrible. lol. My take is that the first couple weeks serve as adjustment periods, and the positive health outcomes we read about are what keep us going! Best of luck on your journey!
It's possible your dose is climbing quicker than it should. A solid place to begin is 1mg, and it might help to return to that amount for 2 - 3 weeks to check whether your sleep gets better.Xono said:

Week 1 I was at 1mg and felt basically nothing, so now I'm at 2mg. Currently week 2, day 4. 2 days ago I screwed up: coffee, then cardio. Resting heart rate sits at 70bpm; while exercising I kept it around 140-150 bpm. Getting it back down to roughly 90 bpm took about 3 hours of resting. The drop was slow, but linear.
Today I did a brisk walk around the mall, and once home I checked my heart rate — still in the 100-110 range. It needed an hour to come down into the low 80s.
Annoying, though I've read that heart rate is among the sides.
Hoping to push through this stage — I'm already thinking about switching to Tirza.
True, I suspect I rushed things because I wanted to see results so badly.AngieHolmes said:

2mg. That's likely where I'll stay for a while.Xono said:

Glad to have you here! It does seem that way. Assuming this is your first glp-1, beginning at 1mg of reta weekly across 4 weeks is quite a sensible starting point. The compound has to accumulate in your body over time.Xono said:
